story

Newfren was founded in Turin at the end of the 1950s when Alessandro Barbero, a great two-wheel enthusiast, started the business of resoldering the brake shoes.

Right from the start, the company distinguished itself in offering a more effective service to its customers by researching innovative solutions, replacing rivets for fixing friction material with a revolutionary new adhesive that would change the production of brake shoes forever, and installing the first gluing station in Europe.
Thanks to the construction of industrial machinery tailored to Newfren’s specific requirements, the production process evolves and is perfected by introducing open cam grinding for the first time. Later, a new water grooved friction material was also applied.

In the 60‘s and 70’s the first motorbikes equipped with cast iron brake discs and the first brake pads appeared on the market; realizing the strong development that this technology would have, Newfren decided to start the production of new backplates
The first production of brake pads was followed by that of brake discs so that Newfren could offer its customers the full range of braking products.

In the 1980s a line of motorbike and scooter clutches was developed and introduced to the market.
In the early 2000s, Newfren moved its production site from the city of Turin to the industrial area of Ciriè, building a new 10,000 square meter factory.

In 2015, a project to modernize the supply chain is launched with the introduction of innovative systems to support production and product handling, launching Newfren 2.0

In 2022, the European holding company of the Endurance group acquires Newfren, which joins other historic Italian brands dedicated to two-wheels, creating in 2024 the motorbike division of the group Endurance Two Wheelers with the aim of becoming the leading Made in Italy manufacturer of motorbike parts, focusing on the characteristics that have always distinguished the historic brand Newfren, creativity, reliability, great Italian quality and looking to the future.
